They arrived yesterday Wed 9/12/24 at our Museum. I have seen all of these units in real life. I wanted to post photos as I have not seen anyone post them.
Lionel CSX Heritage Units of Chessie 1973, C&O 1869, B&O 1827, SBD 1982 & CRQ 1976. Plus 2 regular CSX ES44AH's #3000 & #3059.

Well how do they compare to their real life counterparts? Paint, details, and overall appearance?

Well how do they compare to their real life counterparts? Paint, details, and overall appearance? They are 98% accurate. The 2% is the CSX font on the nose a little smaller then real life and the horn options don't match the real one of a K5HL. But these are 2 very very minor details, basically I'm the only one that will notice. As to the paint scheme, it's a 100% accurate match. Here is a great example to show it. Video of the Lionel version compared to the real one I saw.
Their is even the small DPU logo in the front bottom left to make sure this unit is compatible as distributed power.

Dang!!!! Those sure look sweet. But the problem today is every time you turn around, you've gotta plunk down $650+ for a powered diesel or just under $600 for a SuperBass companion unit. I guess we're supposed to think the pure dummy units at just under $400 are now considered a bargain!!! Either way... by the time you string together a few of these gems, you're into some serious cash. And Lionel still needs to deliver some big-ticket jewels yet during the always-painful 4th quarter. Triplexes... H7's... F-19's... A5's... Polar Express goodies... oh my!!!!!!!!

The Halloween F19 in August, Wood sided passenger cars in September, and the engine of the year in November. Of course that plan went to crap when the F19s all went back. Looks like November / December is going to hit hard.
Back to the thread, Tom those look great. Glad you are happy with them. I think to me Lionel did a pretty good job.

I also purchased the 3000 and 3059. They are both solid looking as well as operationally with the Base3/Cab3 combo. I am very pleased. Besides the minor inaccuracies cited by Cornerfieldrailfan, a more visible difference is that they do not have window on the front door of the cab, unlike prototypical CSX ES44ACs. I am hoping that Lionel gets this detail correct with the ET44ACs that are due to be out at some point in 2025.
P.S. Thanks Marty for the tip with the horn/bell settings with the Cab3. I was able to figure that out.

I did see the recent Lionel Canadian Pacific ES44ac in person, it looks terrible.
I can live with the front door being on the wrong side, but the paint is horrible. For some reason, the product development team at Lionel thinks CP red is neon red/orange. It's almost painful to look at, especially at a MSRP of $750. They even failed to paint the top of the hood black, and the CP logo is oversized.
Are they color blind at Lionel or just too lazy to research the correct colors?
