The Sunday Movie Matinee is a departure from the Layout videos I enjoy watching from other Model Railroader and also Department 56 Village creators. Sunday is day were I slow down and explore other Hobby related content. Some of these are longer, many, but not all are professionally done and frequently they show things I had not considered.
This weeks recommendation for the Sunday Matinee is a short Student film that plays on an odd but necessary “Low tech” method that NY Subway drivers MUST use to insure that their Subway train is properly aligned at each and every station.
It's called: "New York Subway Signs" I hope you enjoy it and I hope you will recommend your favorite Sunday Movie Matinee.

Great find. Still smiling. You never know what you’re going to find on the internet. I never knew about the “Zebra” boards that hang at every single NYC subway station, even though I’ve been a frequent passenger for years. It took a group of college-aged film students to teach me something new about the hobby. The next time I Model a subway stop, I’ll be including a “zebra” board. Did anyone one else ever hear about these boards in the past? Do they have them in Chicago or elsewhere? Emile

It lived in Manhattan for 40 years and never noticed them. Is there some video feed that records the conductor pointing at them?

Found this gem on Youtube. Dramatic video about a model train crash. Very well done and excellent music.

I'm sure those signs made the Conductor's day!

Very dramatic video.
Saw a very detailed stop motion video of an endless derailment. It was very funny. Will try to find.

Both great videos. Bit of suspense at the end of the subway one where I was sure pointing passenger fingers would get caught in the closing doors!

Emile, I've ridden the subway numerous times and never saw the zebra signs, but I really enjoyed the video. Thanks for posting it.
Adam, thanks for that video. It's very well done and quite entertaining.
