Last week I texted Brian, my train repair guy, to give him an update about my new layout and asking if he had time for repairs. I got a text back saying that I should call his wife. When I did so, his step-son answered and said that he had died in May. I offered my condolences. I knew Brian when we lived a few blocks apart in my old neighborhood. I initially got his contact number from Model Train Stuff which had originally been M. B. Kleine in Baltimore before it went online; where he had been doing repairs. He was now doing independent work. Ironically, we both moved to the same area within a few years of one another. He was a good guy and did excellent work. There was a story about his train repairs in the Baltimore Sun in 2010.Alfred www.baltimoresun.com/2010/12/24/overlea-man-repairs-electric-trains-2/#content

I ran into Brian 15-20 years ago at a shop in Finksburg, Maryland, a place that I believe was opened by a few guys who had worked at Klein's. While still at Klein's in Cockeysville, I think he also did some repairs for the Finksburg shop when needed. He seemed a nice guy. The shop in Finksburg didn't last too long, maybe just five years or so, brought down by some owner financial issues as I recall. He wasn't much older than me, which surprises me; real sorry to hear of his passing.

Sorry for the loss of your friend and repair guy. This could be a growing problem as a lot of the repair guys are aging.
