The flag on the tender looks very similar to the one Menard's used on their UP F3 engine. Only in reverse. It looks like you have quite a few tinplate structures on your layout. (Love it) Maybe you could post some more pictures featuring those buildings. ?? Speaking of the layout, what are the overall dimensions? A little video tour would be nice/appreciated as well.

Beautiful set, David! Enjoy it. I have a not-too-long-ago 844 Legacy version still waiting to burst out of it's box. Normally I would jump all over that tender but we were forced to buy a new car last week.

Ron, congrats on the acquisition of the 844 - I can sense your appreciation of its looks. Alfred

Lionel’s latest Legacy #844 FEF-3 kept calling my name. And I finally weakened, which means more trains must move out at the November Allentown ATMA show. So be on the lookout. LOL!!!
Model #844 also comes with solid black elephant ears. But I prefer to let the steamer’s detail come through without them — not to mention that Lionel’s factory has been FINALLY getting the smoke box gray coloring right. So why would I want to hide it??!
I'm with you on the elephant ears. The ones that came with my LionMaster Challenger went to someone else that likes them. That is a gorgeous setup with the 2 tenders!!!!!!
