Another car I painted and decaled. It is a MTH 19th century car I stripped and detailed before painting. I am usually not a big fan of billboard cars, but this one was drab enough for my liking. This car was painted with Tamiya dark green paint and lettered with a K-4 decal set… Tom I think a decal primer is in order here Tom. That's one of the best decal jobs I've ever seen. Please share your process / secrets. Maybe a video too. vr Ron Thanks Ron. I use different solvents, Microsol, Solvaset, Ak, and Tamiya. It is kind of a crap game figuring out the best solution with the particular decal and car surface. I use Mr. Big gloss spray before decaling. The final finish is flat Mr Big, which results in a satin finish. At least 24 hours between each step. It all works for me…most of the time, lol. There are better techniques out there. My process isn’t very refined, unfortunately. Perhaps a tutorial will be in the making… Tom

So where is the order form for one of those wood side reefers? I can't seem to find it! It is a MTH 19th Century boxcar. It started life as a MTH commemorative car, the black, purple and silver one. I stripped the paint off and added a bunch of details. The brake platform, brake wheel and stem, poling pockets, turn buckles, tack boards and a couple grab irons were added. The car was primed with Tamiya primer, then painted… Tom

Some freight cars I have been repainting and decaling. All are MTH cars that were stripped and repainted… Tom

Quality work, but my two favorites are the Frisco and the Mth 19th century boxcar ... if I had to choose, which is hard , I think I lean towards, by a hair, the 19th boxcar. But really you couldn't go wrong with any of them.

Highest quality work - again. Although I don't know a boxcar from a reefer (or how to tell different centuries apart), I know truly fine work when I see it. Thanks for posting.
