Just wanted everyone to know that whoever has been in contact with me in the last 7 days should stay indoors and contact your nearest test center. I’m so so sorry to everyone of my friends and family and those who have been in close proximity to me. I have had symptoms for a few days now and it has just been confirmed. I have been diagnosed with being immature, awesome, hilarious, and completely off my rocker. I was told there is no cure as of yet for all 4 of these symptoms. Hopefully you have made the proper arrangements!

I think the old-fashioned technical term is "consumption" . . . 😱

In the world of guitars (and maybe others), we call it GAS.

Yes, definitely quarantine yourself in a small closet! A classic symptom of this affliction is the need for lots of space for your trains to expand into - beware! Dave

I think I have this same problem. Funny that when I started 18 years ago, I did not really care about details, but now I do.
I used to think, why buy the purple box when the yellow box is cheaper and does the same thing?
Now I think, molded in handrails. Scoff, no way. I have become everything I laughed at years ago. A scale snob.
Just the other day our desk keyboard slide out tray broke. I went to HD and purchased some new slide rails. After I installed the new rails, the drawer would not completely close and stuck out 1/2 inch. Ehh, good enough for me.
My Wife said, if that were a train, you'd be fussing with it for days until it was perfect.
Point taken dear. The keyboard slide out works and closes perfectly now.

A scale snob. Good points, Ron. I suspect some of us just keep doing variations of the same things year after year, and I suppose all of us entered (or re-entered) the hobby with a particular focus (don't say obsession!). However, I think quite a few of us are on a slow-motion voyage of discovery, moving at a measured pace through the various aspects of our hobby. In my own case, my re-entry in O scale modeling a few years ago was initially to recreate my childhood Marx train set, and then progress a bit beyond, by creating a more realistic layout despite the inherent realism limitations of 3-rail tubular track. At first, I stuck with the traditional electromechanical control mechanisms, but soon wandered into using more modern electronics to automate, improve and extend the range of automation on the layout. Of late, I've dived into the deep end of the pool by scratch building my first complex structures. So far, I'm still more MacGyver than craftsman, but the results have been quite satisfying. So, I'd fully echo Ron's observations, and encourage anyone who may be getting a bit tired doing the same-old, same-old to revisit aspects of the hobby that they may have earlier eschewed, and perhaps allow yourself to experience some of the satisfaction and joy that has attracted others to the hobby!

rtraincollector, "Greenberg's Medical Manual on Illnesses of the Train Hobby" indicates the cure for your symptoms is to give away your trains. You can find my address in the Messages section. Alfred

And proof that the manual says that. Here is a train I got in today, I've tried to explain that it says that in the manual but even showing it to my wife, she doesn't believe me.
