I recently acquired a Lionel 164 Lumber Loader Shed, made around 1996. One of the 2 chains is much looser than the other causing some of the logs to fall off the lumber hooks. The exploded view I have does not show any chain adjustment. Does anybody know of a way to tighten the chain or adjust the rollers that the chain rides on?

I just picked up an old and very battered version of that log loader shed, and managed to get it sorta-kinda working, but don't have a good for-sure answer to your question. Some thoughts, though: is there any evidence of damage or distortion around the chain supports, or stretching of the links of the loose chain? If the former, you may be able to beat the damage back in shape, and if the latter, you may be able to.figure out a way to twist or shorten some of the links, in order to tighten the length a bit? Good luck, in any event, and if my further refurb efforts shed any further light on the matter, I'll let you know!

This lumber shed loader (164) is in very good condition. Both chains are in good condition, except one is a bit longer than the other. If I can take out one link that would work, but I do not want to destroy the chain. I may have to disassemble the loader and shim the chain roller with something like duct tape to build up the roller surface. That could take up the slack in the one chain. Thanks much for your input.
