I think its a later scale EP5 version with command, tmcc and cruise. A friend of mine has one for sale that's been hardly run and being a fan of electrical engines and if the price is right I would like to pick it up.
Anybody have one , how does it run and sound. Being a fan of K-LINE Line engines I bet its very nice although I don't have any their electrical engines if any.

Dave, grab it if you can! The New Haven EP-5 Jets were in high demand when released. They were made with TMCC and conventional. I remember being in JusTrains buying their last one while Kirk was on the phone with a customer also looking for one. He had to deliver the bad news to him.
With TMCC it’s a smooth runner but with the generic Railsounds. It’s a beautiful model of the EP-5.

This is a very nice engine for sure. Do keep in mind that some people found an issue with the the trucks, specifically the outside 3rd rail pickups. They seem to get caught on some manufactures switch motors, causing a derailment. Many have cut these off. Otherwise thay are very good.

Most on eBay are much higher and if your looking for the New haven they are around $400. Dave F

Only issue with the EP5 is those cast in shoes on the trucks. If you have Z stuff switch machines the dz-1000 those shoes will hit the machine and derail

The little electric S2 engine from Lionel also had those 3rail shoes which I have. It ran fine on my AtlasO track and switches and now my layout with no switches the EP-5 will be just fine!
