Did Lionel, MTH, K Line, Weaver or other O manufactures ever produce a 3-rail "Duncan Hines" diner car? Fellow member of my train club advised that a few years ago he remembered seeing on line a 3-rail O guage L&N diner in blue livery with the name "Duncan Hines".
I have checked the most obvious sources and aside from a MTH L & N ribbed diner with a different name, nothing comes up.
Photo of original car in static display in Bowling Green shows the smooth-side car in blue & gold livery with name "Duncan Hines".
If anyone has one available I am interested in purchasing one.
thanks in advance

What I know, FWIW, is that MTH and Williams made a number of L & N dining cars over a number of years but not all of these were the specific smooth sided Pullman-built model that is the Duncan Hines, car #2799. Atlas made a limited number of L & N passenger cars too but as far as I remember these were not streamliners. As the real car is preserved and on display it would be a little odd if no manufacturer has modeled it, but I wonder if what your contact saw was an MTH car that had been re-lettered?

Thank you. That is probably the case, or it may have been a 2-rail O scale kit.
In any case, it is similar to another project problem that impacts my plans to repaint a smooth-side baggage and possibly an RPO in Wabash blue livery to add to my recreation of the UP/Wabash "City of St. Louis". The problem with the project is he absence of Wabash decals for the cars. At train shows I run MTH Wabash passengeer diesels with a MTH streamline ribbed baggage and six K Line UP 18" extruded aluminum cars. Surprisingly, there have been a number of attendees who have identified this arrangement as the "City of St. Louis", and most note the absence of prototype Wabash head end cars. One hobbyist advised of a photo (which I did locate) that clearly show the "City of St. Louis " logo in white script at front end of the of a baggage car. Also, other observers have commented on the fact that the "City" Union Pacific cars with yellow, red, and gray livery should have Wabash in red lettering vs. UP. Photos of the six UP livery cars owned by the Wabash did in fact, have Wabash vs. UP car lettering.
I guess I am going to combine the "Duncan Hines" and Wabash UP cars into a professional lettering project once I locate some one who specializes O guage equipment.

The problem with the project is he absence of Wabash decals for the cars. I guess I am going to combine the "Duncan Hines" and Wabash UP cars into a professional lettering project once I locate some one who specializes O guage equipment. In case it helps:
1. I understand the issue about decals as I have a similar problem with a Santa Fe car lettering and concluded I would have to make my own. The lettering on the Duncan Hines looks to me to be some variation of a brush script font and that is usually included in Mac photo editing software so you might be able to use that to create a reasonable facsimile. I have sometimes resorted to using photos of actual car lettering to try to get near enough an acceptable copy but it’s very hit and miss.
2. In terms of professional decal and paint work, Circus City Decals advertise a custom decal service and their standard sets are first rate at least for railroads like UP and SP. For painting as well as decals a contact of mine has strongly recommended Christine J. Braden who has been mentioned on this forum and the other two for some outstanding work a few years back (pre-Covid) - although like many model railroad craftspersons there are also references to delays/issues in making contact. I have no idea of cost in either case although my own time in trying to do custom work has probably been greatly disproportionate to what it would cost to have someone who knows what they’re doing carry it out!

There were 6 addition add-on cars offered including the “MTH 20-66111 Louisville & Nashville 2-Car 70' ABS Slpr/Diner Passenger Set (Smooth)”. The Diner car in this set has road number 2599 in the location where “Duncan Hines” belongs. Your best bet is to find this set and replace the 2599 decals with the correct Duncan Hines decals. Emile

Thank you. I will begin the search for the MTH car, and if found, will change the number as suggested.
