Dare I mention non Lionel Vol 2 tinplate on this thread?
Rumor has it that there are several custom run Monorails sets in the works for 2024 release. Anyone have any intel on this rumor?

A dealer commitment of 40+ units of GG1's or H7's or Y6b's ain't chump change by any stretch of the imagination. No, it's not. BTW, H7's were Volume 1, not Volume 2. Stu Yes… which is another element of risk, since those commitments for H7-based custom runs were placed before some products were announced. Gutsy move. So it’s a delicate balance: You either overwhelm enthusiasts with head-to-head competitive custom-runs now or you space out the announcements until AFTER the pre-order deadlines for consumers. Either way… Lionel is determined to capture the minds of enthusiasts — either directly or subliminally — to spend big money on Vol1 AND Vol2 goodies. Decisions… decisions!!!

Not from Vol 2 but nonetheless is this a first? An MTH Christmas double door plugged boxcar custom run from a Danish Bakery in PA?
While investigating further, this bakery is closed for nearly the entire month of August for their annual vacation.
Not a huge wow factor visuals wise but a subtle message to keep the Christmas/Holiday cookies well stocked in the home pantry and your stomach!

This is a mistake that needs to be fixed. Not the fact of coming out with a custom engine, but the number doesn't match the engine type. For CP #7002, in real life 7002 is an SD70ACU which is a SD9043MAC rebuild, not an SD70M-2. Also the size of an SD70M-2 is shorter then an SD70ACU which is what the picture on Mr Muffins site is. Just something I wanted to point out and let you know.

Interesting that Lionel's dealer deadline for BTO pre-orders is fast approaching (less than 3 weeks away), and no signs or scuttle-butt from Brady's Train Outlet of custom-run announcements based on the Lionel 2024 Volume 2 Catalog yet. They still have some big-ticket custom-runs from this year's Volume 1 catalog that are still available on the website home page. So perhaps they're proceeding cautiously. That... or they're pushing any big announcement (or two) until after the deadline to separate themselves from the fray. Regardless... if that's the case, they're committing to Lionel "on spec". Pretty gutsy in this economic environment though. How many Triplex's, H7's, Y6b's and GG-1's can this market absorb? We'll know soon enough.

I pass it all the time on my way to Fox Case Cancer Center a few miles away. I have an annual check-up in September, so perhaps I'll stop in for a treat and order one of these custom-runs. Always nice to support a local business.

Forget about what the market can absorb. It's my bank account that I am worried about. All those nice GG-1s and the METCA version are giving me panic attacks!

... Forget about what the market can absorb. It's my bank account that I am worried about. All those nice GG-1s and the METCA version are giving me panic attacks! True. The new Lionel "sweet spot" for many of its offerings is above $1,700. And they don't just offer ONE of each model like days gone by. I can remember when they were happy to feature ONE of the venerable Y6b's in the catalog at $1,400 or $1,500 dollars. Then they offered 3. Nowadays though they've gotta offer TEN of them. And then add another half dozen more from various dealer/club custom-runs. The thinking being, the buyer who can afford one of them will most certainly dig deep for a second or third model. Yikes.
And if that's not enough, Lionel does the same thing with a few other big-ticket goodies also... IN THE SAME CATALOG. In particular, the last few times they've offered Vision Line offerings, they cataloged PAGES of them... like this latest catalog with so many GG-1's PLUS accompanying passenger sets no less. Left unchecked, one could EASILY spend $10K-$20K on this stuff... which is why you saw Chris RBP Trains sell off a bunch of his collection through Trainz last year. It's a very different era of O-Gauge Trains these days.

Ha Ha! I quickly misread your link as Jolly Rancher. Instead of candy I got skull and cross bones. No sugar high just a let down.
