It was returned to me today. Now it was sold to me as a Lionel prewar, I do not believe that, it's a MTH reissue I think 1) Lionel boom was a pale green, 2) too new looking. Yes it has some chips in the paint. But still looks to good for prewar. If somebody was going to restore something why wouldn't they paint it completely correct, wheels look like new also

I suppose it could be a restoration or an MTH reproduction but the 219 crane did come is various color combinations and as far as condition is concerned it is quite possible to have a 219 that looks that good. Below is one of the early paint version of the 219 and it is in original condition (true it is a bit dusty - my bad ). The other early version did not have a painted window. Early 219 According to the TCA reference Lionel Trains Standard of the World 2nd edition the late color schemes are: body/roof/boom/trim 1. Yellow/light red/light red boom/light red trim 2. Yellow/light red/green boom/light red trim 3. ivory/light red/green boom/light red trim The reference picture in the TCA book has the yellow cab and the cab color is the same as your car. One possible check with respect to original vs a restoration/MTH product would be the window paint. Lionel used a mask for painting and the trim was not sharply defined. Based on what I can see in your pictures the paint trim on the window frame appears to be sharper on the outside edges than the up close of the window of the above crane. 219 Window frame painting

I missed that. It should be Lionel Lines so NYC would make it a reproduction or a restoration where someone got NYC plates from somewhere. My bet would be reproduction.

So what is the verdict on this crane. In your original post you said "I sent a 215 standard gauge crane to Henning's to get fixed"
Is this not the crane you sent them? did you pay Hennings for the repair? Are you satisfied with what you received even though it's not an original Lionel 215 crane?
