I’ve been watching some You Tube videos and at the end they ask you to subscribe to the channel. What exactly happens when you do that.

That channel will show up in your subscribed list to make it easier to find and to see if the channel owner has uploaded anything new.

Also helps with the channel by bringing more viewers to the site. So when you watch my videos please like and subscribe.

I only post videos on YT so I can post them here. I don't really care if anyone subscribes, but it's nice if they do.

All my videos are unlisted, and the only access permitted is if the potential viewer already has the direct link. So, no effort on my part to publicize or monetize the posted videos . . . just there to share with those I choose to share with, and those with whom they share the link. For me, that's a lot simpler than getting caught up in chasing likes and subscribers, but I can certainly appreciate the effort others put into their public postings. YMMV . . .

I’ve been watching some You Tube videos and at the end they ask you to subscribe to the channel. What exactly happens when you do that. Money. Plain and simple. It's not for your benefit (although they want you to think it is). More likes and subscribes is more money for the content creator. I like to make videos for fun. I have never asked anyone to like and subscribe. I do not monetize. YT has taught me many things and I have learned a lot (especially repairs of ordinary things). My payback it to create videos that are either fun or informative to someone else. Ron
