Hi, can anyone tell me what liquid would have been in The Lionel Cleaner Flask? Have never found a flask with any liquid in it. So, it must have been a fluid that evaporates easily. Thanks

I think that what you are talking about is a vintage product produced in the 1950s. You might want to look at the following online description of the contents of the kit:
www.tandem-associates.com/lionel/lionel_trains_927_acc.htm
It's pretty obvious from this that the can contained solvent- or spirit-based based track cleaning fluid which, if the can had been opened at any stage or leaked, no doubt would have been prone to evaporation or was actually used up by the original owner. The cleaner was flammable and it and the can were replaced in later versions of this kit from the early 1960s. The description also makes clear that that the grease included in the kit would have become unusable over time. Not sure what your interest in this kit would be other than as a collector's item. The only Lionel track cleaning fluid I have had is much more recent and was blue in color (like other manufacturer's similar products).

Thanks for the replies; but Tandem doesn’t state what fluid was in the cleaner can. Just for curiosity is why I wish to know precisely what chemical Lionel was providing at the time these kits were made.
