I am curious if any circuit changes are required to make this work. Will the route be set as the train crosses? Or should this be wired so they both change the route simultaneously, as the train approaches? The turnouts are normally butted together, extended rails shown are just for reference

I figured it out trying to explain it LOL.... never mind. Mainline #1 train enters from the left. To cross the switch will need to be set. As it crosses "Automatic Non-derailing" will set the route to mainline #2. If left untouched, when the red train comes around, the switch resets. Likewise, yellow train will reset the first switch. I always get confused with these switch to switch wirings.

The "Automatic Non-derailing" configured for the cross-over, has a gotcha. There is a condition that will require a manual route reset.
For that reason, it will not work for me. The RC 1-button manual switch will be a better fit.
