This was announced today that PCC trolley cars will return to service in Philadelphia. Interesting! As a young boy, I can remember catching the trolley into Philadelphia from Media, where the literal end of the line was just outside my Great Aunt Sue's house on State Street. Anyone by chance know what trolley route leads west to Media? The article mentions "Route 15" but does not otherwise specify the location the refurbished trolleys will be running on.

In my sixty years living in the Philadelphia area I only rode the trolley once on the route 56 just for a joy ride since I never did. They never went where I wanted to go. To get downtown I took the route 88 bus that stopped at the corner of my street to the Market-Frankford elevated train into center city or add on the Broad Street Subway to the sports complex. My Grandfather used to work for the Philadelphia Transportation Company ( PTC) and was a trolley instructor. But the new trolley initiative that SEPTA is undergoing looks pretty cool!

That is good the a trolley will be running. In the mid 60s my friend and I would take the train from NY to Philly to ride the suburban routes. The only thing I can remember is that we may have taken a route to Chester?? He is gone now, so I can't ask - he was a huge fan of local train transportation. Was there a route out to Chester? Alfred

Alfred At one time there was a trolley that ran to West Chester. Basically it went down between the two sides of route 3 West Chester pike. But I believe it ended in the 1954. I know of this because I grew up in West Chester but it ended before the good lord gave me to my parents.
