Yuengling brew heading your way. Bill Excellent. But I don't know the right way to pronounce this beer's name. However, I don't expect to be in a bar any time soon where I might practice saying it. Ying-ling...

Youse guyz are a bad influence on me. I would never of known about this model but for a thread posted here by runamuckchuck: o-gaugeforum.com/thread/11389/bucyrus-steam-shovel-scale-rails. When I investigated it I was so intrigued by what seemed to be a great scale replica at a knock-down price I took the plunge and have not been disappointed:
I previewed this earlier in the week but have not yet assembled all the included details. However I have tracked down a lot of information about it and these are better views taken when it was made some 16 years ago:
‘The included booklet is at pains to point out that this is a static/display model not meant to be run but as a scale replica I can live with that. The packaging in itself is a big tribute to South Milwaukee, which is not otherwise a place I would know much about.

A recent addition to the collection, a little Lionel 9054 from 1977: A very good friend and former ad exec for JC Penney sent me this as he dispositions most of his O-gauge collection. Likely a promotional item celebrating Penney's 75th anniversary, I'm glad to have it. A terrific memento from a long career.

Stopped in on our anniversary weekend and looked at this. Same as you I was amazed. AND the price was reduced. SOLD! Left with one. Children and grandchildren were shocked at the detail. Thanks for mentioning that YOU too couldn't resist!

Children and grandchildren were shocked at the detail. Thanks for mentioning that YOU too couldn't resist! Curtis, I've always known this but do our great minds think alike or what?! Equally if not more seriously, I looked into the history of the maker of this crane and sadly it seems that they bit the dust K-Line style something like 8 years ago a while after this model was made. The issue date on the box is 2006, and someone probably in the US went to a LOT of trouble to design the packaging and the enclosed booklets. South Milwaukee rules!
I really doubt we'll see anything like this produced again so I am treating it as a bucket list product. My elder brother much admires it but I'll have to keep the Grandsons' HAND's OFF!!!!
