Back in the late 50's and early 60's there was not a lot of O Gauge train manufactures. Pretty much Lionel or AMT / Kusan. I got into AMT at that time, then Kusan, and KMT trains. I acquired the AMT Santa Fe aluminum passenger cars at that time which were as good or maybe even better than the Lionel Postwar aluminum passenger cars of that era. One set of passenger cars that I wanted way back then was the AMT Cole Brothers Circus passenger cars. They were in the category of slim and none and slim left town. Well after 50 years or so what shows up on an auction site are 3 of the AMT Cole Bros Circus passenger cars and I had the winning bid. Just goes to show, if you keep searching you may find it. They are in excellent condition for their age. The red paint could use a shining and the axels / wheels need a good lubing. Looks like they have been sitting on a shelf somewhere for many decades. Very nice find! I notice that the names on these cars are more than a little unusual - I thought one might even be a misprint (“Theatr”) but I assume it and the other two refer to circus characters?

seayakbill, that set is one of those which can truly be called rare. I have a couple of references for the AMT/Kusan trains and none of them mention this group of cars.

The only other set that I actually saw in person was in Alison Cox's collection back in Seattle. Alison was the Madison Hardware of the West Coast. He had a huge collection of AMT locos, freight cars, and passenger cars along with an extensive amount of Pre & Postwar Lionel. Bill www.youtube.com/user/seayakbill

Patience is what is needed if one is looking for something to add or accumulate. Not train related, but I was looking for a particular item, also reasonavle for 6 decades that I had as a youngster. I finally found it and at a price I thought was more then reasonable. Even over decades of seeing and finding similiar, they were always priced unreasonable high. Patience pays off.
