The Engine and caboose combo also includes some track and a wallwart. Pretty neat.

I bought the UP combo set before Christmas at a Menards close to me. Went there to buy some 054 track and they had 2 each of the SF and UP. Got the track and a 2 pack of Chicago and northwestern flat cars for $25 dollars. Sent the rebate form in and received it in January.
Used it a week ago for some plumbing parts I needed. All the trains were upstairs. Didn't see anything worth buying.

These are just left over stock, I would not expect any engine if any till the end of the year. I would like to see a single type locomotive like a gp30,gp35,SD18, etc. The tooling is out there from past owners so there is a chance.

Hope Menard's will do some Eastern Roads like maybe B&O heritage or Pennsy or NYC? I know they are a Mid Western business, but the hobby is all encompassing.
Witness the proliferation of Canadian railroads, both heritage and current.
Just a thought. Great product with lots of potential.
I also agree about hopefully seeing other types of locos in the future.
Wonder it they will get any of the Williams "O" tooling when it becomes available as Bachmann seems to be leaving the "O" gauge/scale market.
But Menard's seems to like to think things out before offering things. That is good business sense.

Really strange that Kader Industries of Hong Kong [ Williams parent company ] purchased a lot of the K-Line tooling from Sanda Kan when Sanda Kan filed for bankruptcy and have not used it. Sanda Kan ended up with a lot of the K-Line tooling for monies owed to them by K-Line during K-Line's bankruptcy. Back during that era it was a real circus, Lionel's lawsuit against K-Line, MTH Lawsuit against Lionel, K-Lines bankruptcy, Lionel purchased by Guggenheim Capitol Management, Sanda Kan's bankruptcy, Kader Industries stopping production of Lionel & Atlas trains with no notice, it certainly was musical chairs in the electric train business.
