Over several decades I've always checked out those bargain and junk boxes some deals have had at Train Shows. I have never paid more then 5 dollars and even found some for 1 to 3 dollars rolling stock. Sometimes just for parts, sometimes with a plan to add to my rolling stock. Soak overnight in 91 alcohol, wash, dry, paint, add your decals, paint any details, make your own flooring on your printer, paint and age, glue. Assemble, and now have a new addition to your roster. This car cost me 3.00 at a local train show. paint and decals I made added 5.00. Alcohol was at that time 98 cents at WalMart. WOW! Just WOW! That is BETTER than the original! Outstanding work, sir! I and a couple of other family members do similar things with tinplate and the occasional Post War items. THIS is what the hobby is REALLY about! Keep it going!
