I liked Traindiesel's post about the York meet. It presents a lighthearted look at York that some say is a shrinking show. It actually has shrunken some from its peak days but for the O Gauge collector/hobbyist there is still lots to see and buy there. It’s just that it will never be what it once was. I know those gourmet hot dogs will never change!

Just for curiosity sake, does anyone know the attendance figures for Spring 2024 York?

According to reports I’ve been reading and hearing hardly anyone was there! Sounds like the Halls were empty. Wait, was I there??!! I’m not sure now, people are saying no one was there. How did these new trains get in my house!!?? Oh my God, could it be?!!
THE RAPTURE IS COMING!!!!
Actually I believe it was about 5900 with 800 non members. Don’t know if the public was included in the number.

While not the numbers of old that should be enough attendance to keep the show healthy for a while to come. As for the hot dogs; while I can't say that they are healthy, the nitrite and nitrate free variety are my choice.

April is always the lesser of the two shows attendance wise. I would expect a couple thousand more in October.

In the movie Field of Dreams, Terrance Mann says in reference to the magic of the ball field 'oh people will come; they will surely come.' So I suspect it will be with York, as long as they have it people will come; including me.

Folks,
Here are the REGISTRATION numbers for the York Meet over the past 12 or so years -- directly from the EDTCA York website wrap-up page. Attendance would be an altogether different animal, as I don't believe there's any way to verify whether members who registered actually attended (since badges aren't scanned):
April 2022 - 7,489
October 2021 - 9,864
October 2019 - 9,207
April 2019 - 8,459
October 2018 - 8,510
April 2018 - 10,144
October 2017 - 10,185
April 2017 - 10,686
October 2016 - 10,924
April 2016 - 11,319
October 2015 - 12,073
April 2015 - 10,987
October 2014 - 12,355
April 2014 - 12,225
October 2013 - 13,523
April 2013 - 12,703
October 2012 - 13,713
April 2012 - 13,403
October 2011 - 13,608

I was there when it was super busy in the 80' 90's and ill be there till the end for me not the train show. Too many other things to worry about and surly I used to go Fiday, Saturday when it was two days and when it changed to Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I was there 3 days. Now that I'm older I go one day, usually friday. Also I don't visit every hall anymore. Looking forward to October, see you there!!
