I am in the process of a new small standard gauge tinplate layout and am looking at adding some people figures. What is the best size and where can I find them?

Contemporary G-scale figures are a good option and there are quite a few available. If you search “G-scale figures” on eBay, you can get a sense of some of what’s out there.
Barclay made a number of Standard-gauge sized figures during the prewar era and those can occasionally be found in nice shape. If you’re looking for figures of vintage appearance, these are great. The problem is they are often in rough shape and command a high price.
