So just last night, I changed out the sound file for a Railking Norfolk & Western J from freight yard to passenger station proto-effects. Outside of some settings I have to set from the remote i.e chuff rate, smoke volume, etc., it went swimmingly however, the firebox glow isn't working. It was working just minutes before I updated the file so I'm thinking the file I downloaded from the MTH website from another Railking J does not include "firebox glow" because that engine doesn't have it. Does this make sense? Share your thoughts.

Yeah, unfortunately it does, or at least to me. Can you get an exact match for the model from MTH? I've usually found that you can or you can work out what they actually used.

The original sound file for this locomotive, as it was part of a premium R-T-R set, was freight yard and I wanted to change it to passenger station as I have the perfect passenger consist for it. The other PS2 equipped J's on their website were lower voltage models and apparently, those sound files were not compatible however, I WAS able to find a file that WAS compatible from another R-T-R set and it worked perfectly except for the aforementioned firebox glow which is not a tragedy. I just have to set up the some of the other effects to my liking via the DCS remote. Was quite simple to do and makes the engine more in tune with what I wanted so overall, I'm happy.
