It says “new engines” and I wonder if there will anything about the Triplex too, possibly including color samples? On second thought he doesn’t usually have/show such samples, which may reflect the fact that Lionel does not know until engines actually arrive Stateside how the colors have turned out!

I would think that Lionel's latest & greatest command system must be very close to approval that an accurate rock solid release date should be available for announcement. If not, then a reason should be given. Bill www.youtube.com/user/seayakbill

Dave Yeah with this kind of urinary contest which does the hobby no good and is actually harmful, can anyone suggest a urologist/train enthusiast that may be able to sort this out?

Stu, are you able to elaborate or is that information public record elsewhere? The common dare I say wisdom that I have heard is that it was about Lionel keeping their same space at York whether they exhibited at both events or only one.
I ask this in the spirit of accuracy not controversy.
If I am remembering correctly Lionel is attending another TCA event this weekend. If correct it would seem that the no show at York is a matter of logistics/budgets or some underlying tension with ED TCA.
Perhaps this question is better posed to EDTCA.
Regardless, you would hope that a qualified adult in the room would be able to talk some sense into both parties as this is about the betterment of the hobby for mutual benefit not for themselves necessarily IMO.

Stu,
Well apparently there has to be some sort of disagreement for Lionel not to attend. Its just not one or the other I would hope. Both sides are adults but they are acting like children, time to come together for the betterment of the hobby.
If one of them had there ego hurt, time to get a pair and get over it.

Dave Lionel looks at York like so many others, dealers, other manufacturers who no longer attend. York is in decline, cost going to shows is going up. Why spend money preaching to the choir, when money would be better spent going to show trying to get new converts. Now people at Lionel have told me about the spat with the eastern division. At this point I don’t think Lionel cares, eastern division needs Lionel more than Lionel needs the eastern division.

The shows all cost money to attend and set up. And the choir usually attends them too.
The York Meet event has been operated long before Lionel ever showed up. I believe that the TCA has promoted Lionel more than Lionel has! It’s not a matter of who needs who. It’s supposed to be a collaboration for the benefit of members and customers. And it’s the choir who is buying the product and who needs to be listened to. Unless Lionel feels the TCA members know too much about defects that they seek out “new converts”.

That's a easy one. Lets compare York 2007 to York 2023. 2007 York attendance was over 14,000, last Oct just over 7000. Now lets take the Amherst show at the Big E, total attendance was over 26,000. Now tell me where Lionel's money is better spent?

Your numbers make sense especially in the context of Lionel getting publicity for special runs elsewhere, like dealer and YouTube adverts. But I still think that there must be more to it than that, even apart from personal differences, like the numbers of what they currently sell and to whom, and how many of them go to traditional events like York. But ultimately it does not matter as much as what they will go on producing and the support for what they have produced in the past. It’s the latter that bugs me as much as lack of QC and ant significant support for current products.
