Thats neat, but not sure it's $1,500 neat. I think part of the reason for the high price is the diner has StationSounds. Unfortunately, using DCS, I will not use that feature.

Looks like they are also offering a full set with loco. That makes a bit more sense financially for fans of the Blue Comet.

I placed my order on the website and it hit my credit card. Maybe if one called the store they could delay payment. I never have an issue with paying up front as I'd rather just get it over with.

A diner with station sounds? Soooo....does this mean that as the train rolls by you can hear the slight grating sound of knives and forks cutting food on china, clinking of wine glasses being offered in a toast, people saying things like "mmmmm...this is GOOD!" "Pass me some more of that gravy", "I knew I should have ordered the broiled salmon!" , a polite belch or two with a muttered "Excuse me" and the inevitable, "Waiter, this isn't what I ordered!" ...stuff like that?

I was on Brady's website and saw the Blue Comet also. While a very nice set I am still shooting for one in Standard gauge tinplate.

I placed my order on the website and it hit my credit card. Maybe if one called the store they could delay payment. I never have an issue with paying up front as I'd rather just get it over with. In the email announcing all their custom-runs, Brady noted a "small deposit" is required for items. So I guess calling the store allows them to handle the deposit / remaining balance structure of the transaction. That would be my preference, since I'm not into the payment in full for pre-orders scene. Lionel can't control their own factory schedules for catalog production offerings, let alone dealer custom-runs. The Lionel Legacy Berk where Mr. Muffins Trains has a B&A custom-run is a perfect example. I think it's been over TWO YEARS since I placed that pre-order... and I'd be royally ticked as a matter of principle, if I paid for that in full two years ago. But everybody has their own comfort level with funding.
Enjoy those cars! Looks like a nice set. I was tempted. But I have the full set of Lionel Blue Comet heavyweights that came out around the turn-of-the-century, which also has a StationSounds diner.

I really like the cars but the price keeps me out. $1500 for the cars and $2200 for the cars and and Locomotive is no bargain imo. Its not Brady's trains fault the prices from Lionel is just too high.
Btw Frank, you can run the Lionel engine, Lionchief app, you Dont have to buy anything. Of course you can run it in conventional and you could use the Universal remote. Have fun.

With Lionel apparently unable to inspect their Chinese factory products until they arrive Stateside, I just hope everything meets expectations… and not like the two special Strasburg RR passenger cars whose rear platforms had open toilets in clear view from the observation deck. Really… you just can’t make up this stuff.
