Hi all,
As you all know, I have a couple loops of fastrack running around my home office and I find that the track is always coming apart at the connections. I've tried the little underneath clips and the mini binder clips to try and hold it together but I'd say they work so so at best. Would it be better to push the two pieces together and then screw them down to the plywood base they are on? Will that work? Any other suggestions?
Thanks as always,
Mike in still snowy Flagstaff (103 inches so far this season)

Screwing it down is an option and probably the one I would utilize.
Adam in less snowy this winter Massachusetts except we are getting a few more inches later this week.

I purchased fastrack screws from Henning's Trains in Lansdale,PA. phone #215-362-2442 ask for Stephanie of Harry Jr. They fit real well and you hardly notice the screws are in track, blend in real well.
50 screws in a package for $1.98, sticker on package "FasTrack Track Screws"

I use Fastrack, I screwed them down years ago and never had a problem. (knock on wood)

Could be wrong here...I would check that there already are clips made by Lionel to hold fastrack together.I really think that I've seen them somewhere...perhaps some company such as Grainger sell a small clip ala low voltage wiring clip that could be used??

I used Fastrack regular, LED lighted, and orange unsecured for a 14X12 seasonal layout with a second layout within the largest loop and never had any problems with track separation. Could it be that your curves are too sharp relative to what you are running, or are you running at too high speeds?
I am not critisizing, just asking.

The weight of some engines, especially scale size articulated steamers, will push FasTrack sections apart just at normal running speeds. I seem to remember that years ago Lionel made plastic clips to join sections but they were brittle and if you were running Carpet Central they were a bore to put in and take out. If you have the option to screw the track sections in place that will cure the problem but does nothing to cure the noise that this kind of track makes.
