I was installing another speaker in a dummy unit of a Williams AA that has ERR board in the power unit.
I made all the connections and I put it on the track to test it and the wire connectors accidentally touched and fried the sound board.đ
It sounded good for a moment now there's no sound. At least the command board still works. Now it's going back in its box.

Oh no Denny, I am sorry to hear that. if you know someone at the club that is good with electronics, they may be able to help. It may just be a blown capacitor or something.

I personally have felt this pain by doing the exact same thing and frying a very nice Sound Commander board. Arghhhhh.

What's worse it's my fault. I heard a voice in my head to put electrical tape on the connectors, but nooo. I'm more irritated with myself because I knew better.

Don't be too hard on yourself Denny. Weve all been there. I'm surprised I don't fry more things given my lax approach. I fried a neat Marquee on the front of movie building I found at a show a couple of years ago. It's a shame too because that was a really fun looking marquee.

He would say, "Do it right the first time or don't do at all".

Adam,
My Grandfather Henry was the train guy, he took my brother and I around Baltimore watching trains in the yards, B&O RR museum, etc. He was good with his hands, and with electricity, he built us a holiday layout, and would come over and set it up, take it down every year. He was the doer. Plus, he was funny, with corney and sometimes inappropriate jokes.
He has been dead since â87. I have his trains, and run them from time to time, thinking of him. In fact everyone knows I am the train guy, and have become the repository for dead relatives trains.

Craignor : He has been dead since â87. I have his trains, and run them from time to time, thinking of him. Friend of mine has his uncles Lionel Prewar Lionel and MARX tinplate trains and had them just sitting on a shelf in view in his house to remind him of his uncle and the good times they had together. I convinced him to send me the trains to repair and get operational, and I am working on them now, when he gets them back is going to set up his trains for enjoyment with his grand kids and telling them about his fun times with his uncle. Then later he is handing all the trains down to his grand kids. Bob

I'm the train guy in our family, I gave my niece a standard gauge set for her new born son last year, Other than that, there not train people.
I look at my trains as I'm fixing them up for somebody when I take my last train ride. I have no kids and no train collectors in my family so wife will do what she can with them. If I don't sell them knowing I'm going and just keep one or two sets.
