Has anyone experienced a connection issue whereas the 990/993 remote will not connect no matter how many times you "RETRY" or "SCAN" for the base? With that, can anyone provide input as to how to remedy it? Thank you.

I'm not sure why it's doing that. Is the plug for the base in a grounded outlet?

Everything is as it should. It's been an ongoing issue with this remote for a while but was put on the back burner since I also have a cab 1L. I've read that there's some form of RESET that can be performed OR I can attempt to contact Lionel in the hopes they can diagnose and repair it but even that I hear is questionable lately.

Last I heard Lionel is repairing them for free. I would contact them.

I've since sent the remote to Lionel to see if they can remedy the problem(s)...AT THEIR EXPENSE!! Apparently, they are still honoring the warranty until further notice so fingers crossed. Stay tuned...

So quick update: the remote was repaired and returned in 95% working capacity. Unfortunately, the left column of the touch screen grid wasn't working so I've since sent it BACK to Lionel for repair under warranty however, they DID fix the connection/signal AND the powering-down problem; apparently there was some battery leakage that seeped onto 1 of the circuit panels inside the remote. They've recommended that batteries should NOT be left in the remote for long periods of time to avoid corrosion and leakage...just so you know.

I found a set of 2,000mAh batteries made by GPReCyko+ that do the job quite well. And both the 990 and 993 charge the batteries quite nicely. Just be sure the switch on the bottom is set to "Charge".

I have rechargeable batteries which I plan to use however, Lionel is adamant that one should NOT leave batteries in ANY of the remotes for long periods of time without usage. I remove the batteries from my DCS remote as well when not in use.
