At the outset, let me say that I am a big fan and supporter of the former and current MTH.
However I was sincerely disappointed by the 2014 offerings for Christmas just announced.
Now I know that the current MTH seems to be a bit hamstrung however the Christmas retreads of previous offerings is a bit of a hum bug.
If MTH was going back to the vaults so to speak why not rerelease the CN Christmas set rather than just a 4 boxcar also ran set which I am glad to own from the first time it appeared.
While obviously too late for 2024 MTH please up your game for 2025 Christmas.

Did you see the complete list? It's a lot of stuff - 20 different things. The header on the MTH email is misleading - that's just a fraction of what's being offered. It even includes buildings.
That said, I don't know what is old or new. I don't have any Christmas train stuff.

I am wondering if they lost the agreement to do the CP holiday train? The last time they released these LED cars, they also released the CP holiday teain version. And the last time they released the LED cars, they also released a matching engines with the lights as well.

MTH might be reaching back into the archives for some of these offerings... but if you missed out on some goodies like the passenger cars and box cars with LED lights outlining the rolling stock, then now is the time to grab them.
I have the larger set of Railking 60' passenger cars as well as the full CP Train (Premier) when first offered, so I'm good. But this time I might pre-order another extended vision caboose -- also with the LED lights, because that will sell out FAST once it's delivered. Mark my words on that. The most recent extended vision caboose with LED lights sold out almost instantly when dealers got them, and I was lucky to get the last one from Stockyard Express.
Another fun piece of rolling stock will be the Christmas Operating Aquarium car. MTH's implementation of this old-time favorite is MUCH better than Lionel's. I find the lighting to be much more even and distinct on the MTH versions of these action aquarium cars.
Dealer pre-orders are due into MTH by April 3rd... so a pretty short runway this time. Here's a link for Mr. Muffin's website of all MTH Christmas 2024 items...

For folks that have not purchased Christmas train items in the past, this looks like a terrific offering. It will be interesting to see if there will be any dealer exclusive offerings. Train shops like Pats Trains and Mr. Muffins seem to come up with some exclusive offerings on a lot of MTH releases.
For the naysayers that have said MTH is heading to the graveyard, the continuous, almost weekly product announcements seem to dispute that theory.

Legacy Station to the rescue with a custom run announcement for a Christmas caboose and box car that is truly original and attractive. One can only hope that a similarly decorated diesel engine is in the works.

Hey folks, today's (March 19th) MTH 2024 North Pole Series Announcements follow along closely with their traditional 2024 Christmas Announcements from several days ago... but these are more in line with MTH's "Polar Express" color theme. Once again, if you missed out on some of these offerings with LED lights on the perimeter of car bodies, now is the time to get the redux versions. And these passenger car offerings have the full complement of Railking 4-pk, 2-pk, extra individual car, and full-vista-dome car (among other offerings). Check 'em out in the link below if you're interested:
