In another thread (My First Tinplate Cars), I mentioned that when my sister and brother-in-law visited, he gave me his uncle’s carton of trains –that is where I found the two pre-war Lionel 607 Pullmans. Other items in the box included two small ancient transformers, enough O27 track to make a figure 8, and a broken plastic post war caboose with bar end coupler (Lionel 1007). The two interesting items in the carton were 10 end-of-box flaps. Unfortunately, the associated rolling stock was not in the carton. It was probably from a 1120 set. Flaps were for the loco, tender, and multiple 100x cars – tankers, hoppers, gondolas (e.g., 1002, 1004, 1005). The most disappointing absences were the pre-war tinplate cars whose flaps were present – 607 Blue and 608 Blue. The other tangible items were 4 metal railroad signs – shown in the photo.
