I have a 9E with a Weaver motor which I have always seen used to pull the Stephen Girard set, but today I found out that the actual 378W Stephen Girard set actually has 392E with the rare chugger in it and with 392W tender, but mine is by MTH ( Without Proto or chugger ) and my Stephen Girard set of cars is also by MTH which in there set has a 4th car. Which I'm fine with.
Going threw Engines I have and prewar Lionel catalogs, I have discovered I have more actual sets ( without any boxes ) that I didn't realize I have. so now need to rearrange some shelves to show the actual sets not just thrown together trains to make a make believe set.
I also have the red passenger cars 1766, 1767, & 1768 that I had one of my 390E's in front of, but found out last night the actual set 367W has a 385E & 385W pulling it.

rtraincollector, good research work. After you do the rearrangements, let us know of the sets you have come up with. You know what's going to happen - that you'll start buying the equipment to fill gaps. Don't rush - take it easy. Alfred

Got 385E #1 with 385W in today. For an engine that is some where between 85 and 91 years old not in to bad shape, needs cleaning up, runs okay, a little slow but a cleaning probably would help that. Needs a spit clean and shine, The whistle in the tender seems to be the best actual standard gauge prewar working whistle. I can actually hear it from oppisite end of train table ( 16' away. ) Still want to open up and clean/lube it. I bought two of these #2 though is MTH conventional with non-whistling tender. That will be in later this week. Engine bought from one seller, tender from another. Best way to get the deal.
