I've seen (and been upset by) poor customer service. When "good" comes along, it deserves praise. Although nothing to do with trains, I've been dealing with no tv for two days. Cudos to DirectTV for going WAY above normal to help me out and completely cure all problems. Plus, the people I dealt with were extremely patient with an "ol'fart" like me. Credit where credit is due.

Its nice when someone or a company goes beyond to fix a problem.

As my father in law used to say, you can't complain about the service; there is none.
Glad you found an exception!

Having spent the bulk of my career with Hughes, I'm familiar with DirecTV, a sister subsidiary in what was the vast organization of a great company. My recollection is that DTV's customer service was rough when they first started, but quickly improved to be one of, if not the best example in the pay-TV industry. Starting off as a beta-test account, I've now been a subscriber for more than 25 years. That may come to an end this year or next as the cost of the product is quickly becoming prohibitive, but as for customer service, I've never been disappointed.

I have also been a customer for a long time. (One of the first). When they first stated, you could add your own "box" and I purchased a Sony unit because I liked the on-screen graphics better, and the more logical operation. Later, Hughes decided you HAD to use their box, making my Sony an instant boat anchor and charging me for another box. But I hung in with them through a lot of grief. Like when they offered 3D programming and I bought a 3D tv only to have them drop 3D programming a couple of months later. But it always came down to the best picture quality keeping me a customer. Over the last almost 30 years, I've had many ups & downs with them, but this last time I got lucky. As mentioned in this thread, good customer service IS getting harder to find, and this was exceptional. As the Greatful Dead sang - "I may be going to hell in a hand basket, but at least I'm enjoying the ride." (Younger members here can feel free to ask your grandparents who the Greatful Dead were.)

It's Grateful Dead, Bill (just in case the youngsters try to Google it). How could I let spellcheck do that to me! (I guess that proves I went to a Grateful Concert once or twice) Hmmmmmm
