Hey Thanks to this great forum for a question I didn't even have to ask because I've learned from you all already. I bought a Galloping Goose on ebay last week and when it arrived, it would light up but wouldn't go. Because I've asked you all this before for a similar problem, I didn't fret but thought it was probably a battery issue so took the cover off the back end (something I would have been afraid to do previously), unhooked the battery, replaced it with a BCR I had taken out of another train, and voila, the Goose lit up and took off. So thanks for the support and encouragement!

Sometimes it's a matter of single-mindedly pursuing the solution to a pressing current problem by posting questions and following up, but just as often it's the odd bit of knowledge picked up in the course of following unrelated topics of interest that solves the dilemma du jour. Frankly, I'd just as soon figure things out for myself or help others do the same, but in any event, it's a great thing to have access to such a wealth of experience and knowledge, however you tap it!

A friend had gotten a used Williams engine that lit up but wouldn’t move. He asked if I had any idea what the problem was. I don’t have any Williams engines but I’d read posts here about the lube Williams used can harden and freeze the motor. I told him about it, he removed the old lube, it was solid, lubed it and it ran like a champ. I wouldn’t have known about it if not for some members here.
