Does anyone do 2 Rail? I just received my notice of the Strasburg 2 Rail Show on April 13th. I went last summer and thought it was good. I'll be going again. www.richyodermodels.com/show_flyer.pdf

Does anyone do 2 Rail? I just received my notice of the Strasburg 2 Rail Show on April 13th. I went last summer and thought it was good. I'll be going again. www.richyodermodels.com/show_flyer.pdfI’ve been an O-scaler for a long time, but not in a big way. I still have a little of my British 2-rail 0 scale stuff, mostly Slaters kit rolling stock. I had a 2’x9’ shelf switcher based on Brit standard gauge tramway/light railway ideas - a ‘minimum space’ fiddle yard configuration. Locomotives were various home-bashed steam and diesel critter types. I also got into some North American 2-rail via Weaver kits and the ubiquitous Atlas F9 and Plymouth switcher or two, but the space for scale curves just wasn’t there. My 3-rail adventures started with a Polar Express set and grew from there. Dave

I do some but it is all 19th Century. I'm pretty sure I posted this picture on the forum sometime last year but here's a re-posting of the kind of equipment I'm talking about.

That’s a gorgeous model - is that the SMR line? I have the ‘70s AHM V&T 4-4-0 as a display model. Let’s see some more 👍👍 Dave

Yes firewood, it is an SMR train. Since you asked to see some other SMR offerings - here's another one - again, I know I posted these pictures in some of the earlier discussion threads. ...and, if you want to see the Haupt in a more traditional setting there is this view Before SMR came on the scene PSC made this version of the Lincoln Funeral Train

Why not??? It's all model railroading and most of us have dabbled in other scales - In my case only in 3rail but that's another story.

I started three rail and have a DCS/Legacy layout. However I found deadrail a few years ago and also enjoy scale effects like fixed pilots and scale couplers. With deadrail I don't need the third rail, but scale wheels sometimes do not behave nicely on three rail switches. The frog is too deep and the car can bounce. So if I do find something nice I like in 2 rail, I usually just swap out the wheels to high rail. I still keep the 3 rail layout and control systems in place for my son and visitors even though I don't use/need them.

I've never, ever been tempted by deadrail; I like bulky AC transformers too much. 2Rail is another matter; I just got 4 feet of track for testing and display purposes. Oh, yeah, I have a DC transformer for this.

What is this 2-rail you speak of? Haha... If 2 rails are good, 3 rails must be better. Here was my haul today. Great Atlas boxcar to use as a cover car for my tankers. $25. A nice Atlas switch tower kit, new unopened, $25. My son also picked up a couple of freight cars also.
