This can power probably every single layout in the world, LOL.
I know this is a real train, but this is worth posting. I caught this in Madison Ohio this afternoon 2/21/24. CSX YN2 AC4400CW #52 pulling a large General Electric Generator.

How does the generator work ? Is there some kind of a power source that drives the generator ?

You should have seen the steam Turbine they brought to our plant site. 4 cranes to take it off railcar, 4 to place in structure.

They’re quite the load, aren’t they. This photo was taken on the CPR main line west of Lake Superior on Feb. 20th, 2022. The train has load spreading boxcars between the two generators. I guess they also contained fittings and other hardware. Max speed was 25 mph. [Photo: B. Martyniuk] Dave

They are quite a load for sure. Wonder how much HP it takes to turn it to get maximum output.
