Just noticed they have increased the buyers premium to 16% plus 6% sales tax. This seems to be the trend these days the auction houses get bot a sellers and buyers premium.

One thing I won't do, attend or bid an auction were buyer has to pay a premium. Wonder if auction houses also collect sales tax now??

Yep, the 3 auction houses are getting to a point that you would have to win at a low ball price to justify the additional expenses.

I believe the Stout Auctions now have a 19% buyer premium. IMO the buyer premium is to keep the seller/consignment percentage relatively low to entice the seller/consignor who might otherwise go to say Ebay to list with the auction especially when the seller is using a third party to list and sell on Ebay.

I used Cabin Fever Auctions once a few years ago without any issues, I stopped viewing their auctions because anything I was interested in was always bid a lot higher than I wanted to go and the shipping, packaging and buyer premiums had all been increased since the time I had used them.
