On April 13, 2024 the Model Railroad Jamboree returns. This event, sponsored by the Keystone Division of the NMRA, represents one (if not the) best value in model railroading. For $55 ($45 if you are an NMRA member), you get: - A day of historical and how-to clinics (12 total) - this year's line-up is absolutely STELLAR!
- Continental breakfast and lunch included
- Contests
- White Elephant Sale
- Raffles (scale specific)
- Displays
- Layout tours
For an additional $40 there is a banquet at the end of the day which features Nikki Wilhelm, manager of the Carnegie Science Center's Miniature Railroad & Village, as speaker. Want to know the history of this 105 year old exhibit and how it's operated and maintained? This should be fascinating! All are welcome! If you are not an NMRA member, we can even enroll you in a 9-month trial. This is another awesome deal. I've been attending this event every year since 2006. It's a wonderful source of inspiration, information, new ideas, and a chance to meet modelers with similar interests. There will be a number of 3-railers in attendance.
I hope to see you there! George Pandelios Assistant Superintendent, Division 2, MCR, NMRA

That looks like fun! They need to do a Minuteman Division so it's close to me.

That looks like fun! They need to do a Minuteman Division so it's close to me. Adam, if the post above sounds like I'm gushing - I am. I've been going to this event forever and it has always been an unending source of inspiration and fellowship. Some of the past presenters at this event have included such well known 3-railers as Norm Charbonneau and Bob Bartizek. And of course, Neal Schorr has presented a number of topics about realistic modeling. John Sethian, whose 2-rail O Scale layout has graced the covers of multiple magazines, spoke a couple of years ago. They also had Fred Lagno, a photographer for Model Railroader, as a speaker once. He wrote a book called Changes: A Model Railroad Comes to Life. The realism of those photos is absolutely unbelievable. You can't tell them from the real thing. The point is - the organizers arrange for quality presenters and clinics.
And the price? Ridiculously low! Plus they feed you, too.

This is an event that I would love to attend. We were planning on coming into York early too. But we have concert tickets to see Sting and Billy Joel out here on the 13th.
But I wouldn’t be interested in the white elephant sale. All my trains fill up most of the three car garage so I would have no room to put an elephant of any color. It’s why I didn’t even ask Santa for a hippopotamus this past Christmas!

The Model Railroad Jamboree is fast approaching!
It's Saturday, April 13th!
If you want to enjoy the delicious banquet at the end of the day, you need to register on-line before March 31. The banquet will feature our keynote speaker, Nikki Wilhelm, manager of the Carnegie Science Center's Miniature Railroad & Village. That's going to be memorable.
We will take walk-in registrations on April 13, but banquet registrations will close on March 31. Come partake of all the fun!
