A lot of info here guys and my head is spinning taking it all in. I heard that since I have a MTH Z4000 , I can run both convential on 1 track and newer style on other. Is this true? If I can, just probably can’t switch trains from 1 track to the other.

Both DCS MTH engines or Lionel TMCC/Legacy engines will run in conventional you don’t need a command system to enjoy them. Only need a command system to access all the features. lots of how too videos on YouTube on both command systems. I highly recommend you watch them.

....In order to run in conventional you would need some type of controller, TPC 300/400, Lionel PowerMaster or Legacy PowerMaster to do that. With MTH's DCS Track Interface Unit (TIU) you don't need any extra components. You can set one or more of the four outputs to variable voltage to operate a locomotive in conventional mode through the remote. Or, when the new TIU with WiFi control is released later this year, you can set it with your WiFi capable device. (Phone, tablet or other capable device).

Well that would assume you invest in the MTH system. If you want to run TMCC/Legacy you need both systems. On the other hand if you invest in the Lionel system and add one of the additional components as mentioned you can run every engine ever made either in command or conventional.

Same as with DCS but without needing additional components. The original poster was asking about options for command control for his MTH equipment and future MTH and Lionel engines. He’s off to a great start now!

Hey guys sorry for responding late. Been busy. All this is great info. I think I might just wait for the new MTH TIU or invest in the new Lionel base. Just so confusing to me. Whatever I do I just don’t want to worry about what train I have on my tracks. Appreciate all the info.
