I apologize for not being more active in the forum.
Got a bad case of being grumpy back in December and just went to work, bed, eat.
Then when I got over it all, I came down with Covid-19 and spent 2 weeks in bed during January and another 2 weeks recovering.
Still have tightness in chest but 90% better.
Been working on the layout in small doses putting quality over speed.
it is not uncommon for me to get tunnel vision and take shortcuts, only to find them and correct them the next time I work on the layout.
Been having fits with MTH RealTrax. As most of mine is anywhere from 20 to 10 years old and seems to crack or break easily.
Also, the RealTrax turnouts needed some TLC as I found two that had gouges in the wide metal frog(s)?
Unusable as a result.
Abandoned the lower subway level as I can no longer bend or reach to service it. It is now a conduit area for all my wiring.
Trying to keep it simple and accurate; Grand Central Terminal down the Park Avenue stone viaduct circa 1880 to the Harlem river with just 125th street station.
Have a 4 track widely separated coach yard.
Had wanted to use GG-1s, F3's etc but that are all too heavy without additional wood reinforcement to the foam layers.
I cant haul wood anymore..can barely trim trees, bushes, put up christmas tree etc anymore.
Thus, its MTH Premiere NYC&HRR 4-4-0s (two) and all their wooden coaches just like the real 1880s prototype along with those 4-4-0s.
Still using the Lionel GCT with Harry H's GCT base, but I am not happy where I have it.
That will be a decision for later.
I will post some photos while I can.
BTW, all my smoke units on my MTH engines r noisy, I guess thats due to age? They are from 2005.
