I think the EDTCA started this last October — in an attempt to bring the old “bandit meet” concept in-house to the York Fairgrounds Purple Hall. Sellers pay $50 for tables, and they can sell trains to the public before the official Meet starts on Thursday. Years ago sellers would set up shop at different hotels in the area to get a jump-start on selling. The concept affectionately became known as “bandit meets”.

The Eastern Division did this to make some extra money, not to kill the bandit meets. The ED rents the fair grounds for the whole week.
