I am using a 022 lionel switch to create my side track. When the train gets past the switch it stops. I am assuming that I do not have the isolation pins in the correct place. Any thoughts. Thank you.

Thank you. You mention isolation "pins" and I wonder where they are? The non-derailing feature of Lionel traditional switches (which is what I assume you are using) depends on maintaining current to one outside rail so that the engine picks it up when it crosses the switch. Where the isolating pins should be located depends on exactly where the switch leads from and to. If it's just a switch leading to a siding make sure that the isolating pins do not prevent an outside rail from being powered.

lmadsen, When looking at a right turn out the fibre pins should beon the extreme right rail on the straight out and on the curve out; for the left-hand switch, the fibre pins should be on the extreme left rail on the straight out and on the curve out. Alfred. Let me know if this helps, if not, I have two other suggestions.
