It seems to me that there seem to be few bargains. E-bay is mostly BIN and even some of the RR auction sites seems to be getting some pretty high prices. I remember going to Maurer Auctions prior to the pandemic and I could sometimes get some good bargains not so anymore. I did get a good deal on a Lionel 990 set last year at Cabin Fever and could pick it up so there was no shipping charge.
The downside is if you don’t have a Tax license in PA you will add 6% to the overall purchase price and then the 15% buyers fee.

I don't think eBay is full of bargains but it is a port of call for me if I can't find something somewhere else online. OTOH dedicated train auctions do lead either to remarkable bargains or people bidding to stratospheric levels for something considered rare. I am not into collecting anything let alone rare items but every few years I do go on the hunt for items that are no longer made new.

I have been following Cabin Fever since they got the MTH collection. Bought something from Every MTH auction except one. Lately things seem to be going at higher pricing so I am not purchasing. But I really do NOT NEED any thing so it is good for me.
