Even though I wrote it down I forgot all about this item. A item I ordered because my mom would serve this scrapple every Sunday. For those who never ate scrapple, your missing out on one of the great breakfast meats ever made. But don't ask what it is made of, just enjoy it. Glad it came today. Dave

I’m embarrassed to say it happens more than I can care to admit. It most commonly happens with special-run announcements — especially the ones that are now everyday occurrences with MTH, which is why I’ve grown to detest their new business model. I much preferred the days when special-runs were the exception rather than the rule.

I definitely know that I did NOT order that car although I saw it and was very keen to pay a tribute to scrapple. But I fear I may have pre-ordered something else ages ago . . .

I just received two of these NYC flat cars with Scrapple pup trailers the other day. I think I ordered them nearly two years ago.
But I didn’t forget about them. I keep a spreadsheet of all my preorders and who I order them from and the dates they are due. I also create a personal order form for each item on my desktop computer as I order them. Once received I put it in an “Orders Received” folder so I know what is received and still outstanding.
Also, I’m constantly monitoring hobby shop websites for inventory and pricing just in case I missed something that I might like. It’s a hobby within a hobby to me. When I noticed the scrapple cars were being shipped I ended up buying a couple other freight cars. (I’ll post some pictures when I get a chance to take some) Now that these cars are delivered can the OGF flat car with pup trailers be far behind??

Oh yeah! What's worse, the time between ordering (and paying in advance) was so long that I had not only forgotten I had ordered the car but when it arrived I thought the shipper had made a mistake so I sent it back! The shipper sent me an e-mail wanting to know why I was returning it and when I told him he e-mailed a copy of my paid order to me...and then he returned it - no additional charge.

Now that these cars are delivered can the OGF flat car with pup trailers be far behind?? Brian, that’s a VERY soar subject for me. And if those OGF club cars weren’t part of that shipment, I’m not buying one single item from MTH until they get their act together. We’ve been told for months now that these cars are “on the water”.
Bottom line: I have a healthy pre-order that’s been PREPAID as far back as I can remember. And with very few exceptions, it’s the last prepaid pre-order I’m doing — not just for OGF, but for other special-runs in general. I’ve pretty much had it with this nonsense.

And with very few exceptions, it’s the last prepaid pre-order I’m doing — not just for OGF, but for other special-runs in general. I’ve pretty much had it with this nonsense. For some reason it seems the special/custom runs of all types take the longest to be delivered. I read somewhere that MTH is having supply and/or shipping issues with some of their products. Don’t know why it’s only some of them. These scrapple pup trailer flat cars were regular production, not a special run. All the other flat cars that were in that run were shipped months ago. We’ll never get a straight answer.
As for the OGF custom run, they were supposed to be undecorated models that once they are delivered they still have to go to the contracted painter for finishing. It probably would have been better to order any regular production model of these and have those repainted. They could have been done and delivered months ago.
I’d love to see more OGF cars done in the near future. Maybe using regular production models would be quicker and easier to have painted. We’re due for a box car, coil car, reefer, gondolas, ore cars, tank car or stock car.

Dave, I like the idea of the cars; not Scrapple. That was a nice surprise. See if you can get harborbelt70 to make a Scrapple smell generator for you. Alfred

No, not *my* past -- my sisters and I grew up on Maryland's Eastern Shore eating Rapa brand scrapple -- but our mother, having grown up in an arc of locations across the middle of Pennsylvania, to near Philly and far down on the Eastern Shore as her Pennsy signal engineer father was variously posted over the years, used to wax eloquent about the Habbersett scrapple of her youth, apparently a Philly suburb staple (though I always assumed the brand name was "Haverset"). The few times she was able to obtain and share some with us kids, I could never quite see the attraction -- frankly, I preferred Rapa, then *and* now. And I agree: if you're inclined to ask about the ingredients . . . don't! "Scrapple" ("scrap all") says it all . . .

I believe The Round The Clock Diner in York uses Hatfield’s brand scrapple. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside and seasoned perfectly. Yumm. 😋

I actually did, but that was about 7+ years ago. I ordered some NS First Responders cars and many months later I get a call from the one hobby shop I ordered from and they told me the cars were in. I forgot I ordered those as I had a lot going on throughout the year. I paid for them, but that's the only time I ever forgot about an item I ordered.

Aw!! You guys are missing out if you never tried Scrapple with a little ketchup and an forgive the contradiction, but scrapple ww/oomelet of 4 eggs with cheese and some fried potatoes, now I'm hungry!!! Dave Forgive the additional contradiction however scrapple w/o a dollop of apple butter is just so blasé. Once you have tasted that combination anything with it will be secondary.
