WARNING !!!!
ACCORDING TO THE YORK MEET NOTICE RECEIVED IN THE MAIL (On page 14), THE SAME UPS STORE THAT BOTCHED SHIPMENTS FROM MEMBERS THAT NEVER RECEIVED THEIR PURCHASES WILL ONCE AGAIN BE WORKING THE MEET IN THE SILVER HALL LOBBY!
I suggest using another source.

Attendees for April only 7200 or so? That’s half as many as it was back in 2007.

It’s a week long party!!! And that's great. I'm glad you all enjoy it. For me in my point in the hobby, a six hour drive, expense of fuel, hotel, and food plus the time off from work. York is just not worth it IMO. Eddie, God bless you. You are the York ambassador, you should get paid.

Until the Eastern Divisions gets their retinal scanning ID sorted, you gotta have a badge, lol. Besides, no badges, what would everyone do with their York badge-holders?

I find it hard to believe that the ED will ever use retinal scanners instead of badges. The York meet can never be what it once was. Its still a decent large size event but the numbers will continue to edge down. IMO, being a TCA member to attend the full event goes against everything we see at other shows. The fall car show at Hershey draws 250,000 people and you do not have to be an AACA member. Anyone can come and that's part of the success formula. Same at Carlisle; just pay your admission and enter. I found it an insult to be forced to be a perpetual TCA member just to attend. WE can theorize the changing demographics of those that buy the trains may be the issue but if that were the case then how come Allentown and Amherst have not lost attendance?

"I find it hard to believe that the ED will ever use retinal scanners instead of badges." Comment made tongue-in-cheek, lol.
"I found it an insult to be forced to be a perpetual TCA member just to attend." If you're joining so you can go to the Eastern Division's twice-per-year meet to just buy stuff, you're likely missing the point. The TCA is an ASSOCIATION, a group of like-minded members with subject interests other than simply accumulating stuff. The Eastern Division's meet is but one of many events across the country sponsored by various TCA divisions. The TCA membership fee goes toward supporting the resource library, the bi-monthly publications, the museum, the annual convention, not to mention the vast transfer/availability of information amongst the membership and the buy/sell/trade venue. For the first sixty-plus years, you couldn't attend without being a member, period.
As described here on the forum, there are a number of good alternatives if your interest is just buying new stuff.
