I knew this day was coming and as much as I hate not going it may be the best thing for me. But you never know what will happen. If the show was next week I would say no way but April is still quite a ways off so maybe!

If the show was next week I would say no way but April is still quite a ways off so maybe! Dave Right now it’s cold outside, you don’t feel like going out and nothing looks like much fun. But by April the sun will shine, temperatures will warm up, baseball will be starting and everything is fresh and new again! And besides, I’ll be at York! (If you go I’ll buy you two hot dogs!)

Just sent my badge request in yesterday. Was actually thinking I might pass on this one, but even if you buy nothing (that's never happened for me), it's still a good walk. Low expectations, although the pre-meet publicity from the Eastern Division seems to indicate an interest in generating some mojo. I guess we'll see.

Where are the bandit meets?
Attending York will be a game time decision for me. Depends what else is going on at the time.

The bandit shows are at the Wyndham, the 4 Points Sheraton, the fire hall, and the Purple Hall at the fairgrounds Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday.. I like the bandit meets. I find some real bargain's at them. I'm not sure the TCA Eastern div. people are still trying to kill the bandit shows. They have opened the purple hall to make some extra money. They rent the fair grounds for the whole week.

Isn't the Eastern division trying to kill the bandit meets by opening up the fairgrounds to them before the show?

Where are the bandit meets? I've been hearing about them for several years now, but what exactly *are* the bandit meets? Just vendors and fans getting together at/near York in a manner *not* authorized by TCA, or something more? And where's the best place to find out about them? Also, I've been to York twice in recent years on the public guest day pass, but it seems a lot of the "good stuff" not available to the public requires a TCA membership (or some sort of a one-time guest-of-a-member pass) to get in. Worth the cost of a TCA membership?

Worth the cost of a TCA membership? I don't know that there is a "place" to learn about the bandit meets. eddieg listed them above, but I'm not sure which days they are; certainly sometime Mon.-Wed. heading into the general TCA Eastern Division meet. If you're local, the benefits of TCA membership provide (1) resources of TCA, i.e. the library, museum, the Quarterly, and other online stuff; (2) twice annual members-only access to York (for an additional registration fee); (3) the chance to meet other like-minded folks, possibly in your area; and (4) an annual convention that moves around the country, convention cars, and all of that (never done it myself). If I wasn't local to York, I probably would have second thoughts about membership. Access to the library/museum and the member-side of the meet has certainly been worthwhile for me, and I've made a ton of friends through the Association, a number of whom are local to me (which, at the end of the day, has proven the best bit).

Check out Clem’s York Meet Primer. This link is for this past October’s Meet but the information is the same. Look for the updated April Meet version sometime in March. It’ll tell you about the bandit meets and everything else about the York Meet you’ll ever need to know! Scroll down to page 12 for bandit meet info.

Thanks for the reminder re: Clem's York Meet Primer. I didn't realize that was still being produced/maintained/updated. Certainly worth a look.
