I only scanned through this; I'm afraid that listening to Dave for 42 minutes would tax my patience to the limit. So I won't know until I have the patience to listen what he said and in particular whether there was any update on the VL Triplex. This is listed on Ro's website as expected in early July (of this year).
I was interested to see (1) what he described as "engineering" models, which I think means pre-production samples, of various steamers and (2) a working model of a new sound-equipped car although the dialog was too silly for my liking. Nonetheless no other 3rail O scale importer does anything truly innovative with sounds.

Then there was the teaser announcement of a Ryan and Dave show surprise announcement tomorrow ( Wednesday) about some new never been done before product; not in any catalog.
Is the timing another York ding?
I did not catch the time of the announcement, only that it is tomorrow.

Are they doing a tinplate engine like the one pictured.

I only scanned through this; I'm afraid that listening to Dave for 42 minutes would tax my patience to the limit. ... I can relate completely. I too needed to fast-forward through much of the video, since I didn't watch it "live". But it is what it is. Different style of presenting than I'm accustomed to. Dave is not Mike Reagan, and we're painfully reminded of that with any of these updates.
One interesting tidbit of news that Dave mentioned was the Lionel webstore now has the most official/accurate shipping dates for upcoming products. And to that end, I checked for goodies that have caught my eye: the METCA Christmas A-5 0-4-0 is due to ship early August; Mr. Muffin's custom-run B&A Berk is due to ship in mid-July; and the Christmas F-19 which should pair nicely with the Sleigh Bell Ltd passenger cars is due to ship in mid-June. So at least two "Christmas" locomotives should be here in plenty of time for this year's Christmas season.
Triplexes should ship mid-August. So it could be an expensive Summer of 2024 -- especially for the YouTubers looking for fresh content for their videos!!! I guess that's why Chris RBP Trains is selling so much of his collection. I can appreciate that, as I've been there... done that... still doing it from time to time. But for slightly different reasons. It's all part of the same disease though!!!
For those of you early-adopters of the Base3, Dave mentioned at early August ship-date out of North Carolina.

I thought one of the first production samples looked like tinplate because the brass separately applied details on it were unpainted but I doubt that indicates anything about tomorrow’ announcement.

Weren't the first samples of big engines a Berkshire, and an M1? The Hiawatha style engine looks like the Lionel Standard gauge version that got wet and shrunk!

The first 3 locomotives were nice, and the A5 and Berk are a definite for me — especially since both are overdue with tooling issues. The M1 is a maybe. But given other interests at the moment, I’ll probably pass on that. The Hiawatha styling just doesn’t call my name. And the sound package seemed rather bland. I was unimpressed.

Yes, I think that you are right on all counts - it’s just that when I tuned Dave out, I saw what looked like a nice steamer that was not all black and had brass accents. Rightly or wrongly I equated it with a tinplate look. Anyway, I don’t think this relates to Lionel’s big announcement.

His video presentations are very hard to watch.
They (lionel) need to get Dave some help when doing these videos. It seems its all done on the spur of the moment with no planning. Its very annoying to watch.

Not that I pay attention to new Lionel these days, but you’d think with their high-end markups they would do some professional video production. 🤷🏻♂️ Dave
