Getting back to the subject matter K-Line may have entered the market at too late a time and tried to buy its way in. They made some great stuff. it was affordable , ran well but it was not sustainable for a one man operation after the large legal expenses kicked in. Maury was going head to head with a multinational Wall Street Corporation and they put him under. The tooling is still out there in China somewhere same as is Right of Way Industries tooling probably is They were another company that made O scale quality trains. As they say tooling is forever. Speaking of ROW the Menards intermodal cars are the ones ROW made. I still have a few of the old ROW cars and when I bought some of the Menards intermodal cars they looked familiar and if you put them side by side they are exactly the same. Menards did upgrade the way the trucks were attached, ROW used a screw that kept coming off. ROW sold them for $49.00 with containers, Almost 30 years later Menards is selling them for $49.00 with containers. Btw, K-line was trying to undercut both Lionel and MTH to gain market share, not a great plan! Dave

Brian, if I may be so bold, your well deserved indecision is feeding upon itself and putting you in a funk. The best way to rid yourself of this stagnation is to make do with the possible and just do it. I can guarantee you that even if it is not what you planned it will be what you need right now in order to get some fun back into your love of model trains. Soon can't be soon enough! Ground Hog day is just around the corner. Chuck, you are correct. I have renewed energy and excitement to work on the layout as things settle down a bit. I never lost my passion for the trains, just my focus with everything else going on.
Ground Hog Day? Heck, Memorial Day will be here in two toots of a Big Boy whistle!! Brian, I am very sorry to hear that. Life does play rough sometimes. Kudos to you for trying to look after your parents and in-laws.
George
Thanks George. I probably settled back too much but never lost the desire to build. Watching The Panhandle evolve was great inspiration for me!Brian, I'm sorry all that happened to you. I'm sure you'll eventually be able to get things together and you guys will get your home in order and you can run trains. You've been through enough. Thanks Denny. The house is in good shape now, just chipped away at it in between crises. Another funny (not so funny at the time prequel), after landing in SD we stopped at a pet store to buy some food for the cats since they didn’t eat the whole flight. Upon leaving the store we discovered the tire was flat on the rental mini van. I had to unload all the luggage plus four cat cages onto the parking lot so Triple A could change out the tire. In the dark. The next day I got the call that my Dad was passing.
The trains are my therapy! And K-Line is a huge part of it.

My God Brian, that IS a rough patch. I am very sorry to hear about that level of continuous strife and grief.
Best,
George

I was at work when my sister called to tell me our dad had passed away. He died on New Years Eve. So sorry to hear of your loss, Denny. I feel your pain -- my dad also passed on New Years Eve years ago, and my mother passed on New Years Day several years later. Both were not unexpected, but it never is easy, especially around a time of general celebration.
