I have no comment about this because I might offend someone who likes it. It would seem that your no comment is comment enough; which is perfectly fine. This engine paint scheme might be right at home with the Lionel Trippy Trolley. It is certainly not for the faint of heart, the prototypical runner, or someone adverse to large shiny objects. However it does have a certain allure that I keep trying to talk myself out of.

I like this engine. I think Lionel did a great job on it. I won’t buy one because it’s way out of my price range. I can’t justify paying that much for what would end up being a shelf queen but I do like it.

WOW!! That is certainly a stunning livery. I agree that it will look great hauling the aluminum streamliners. Maybe they’ll even reflect some of the Dreyfuss colors.
Although this offering isn’t on my radar as I have other fish I want to catch first, the Dreyfuss will look great running on your layout. It may not be a prototypical paint scheme but at least it’s on a prototypical locomotive model. Like I always say, there’s no wrong way to enjoy the hobby!
Have fun with it, David!

My only concern with this engine is fun fatigue. But besides that I wonder how this engine would look pulling the 120th anniversary Lionel Lines set?
rockymountaineer you have your ears on?
How would that paint scheme go would you think?

Sorry I missed this post. Give me a day to grab one my 120th Anniversary coaches off the storage shelf, and we'll see how they look together.

Perfect. Thanks for taking the trouble. It will either look terrific, or horrific!

Things will look great for those that like it, and not so much for those who don't.
All comes back to "buy what you like"

Things will look great for those that like it, and not so much for those who don't. All comes back to "buy what you like" Even though the basic colors of the engine and the cars appear to be the same Lionel blue/orange combo the paint scheme/finish used on the engine is so distinctive that I am concerned that it will be off-putting next to the more conventionally painted cars. It is tough to know what you like until you can see it; at least for me. However as to your criteria for buying, I agree totally.
