I guess not - my O Gauge partner down at the club brought his foam Christmas tree base to our recent charity show and I set up my Polar Express on it
- on October 29th!

I seem to remember those circular foam bases being available commercially years ago...is that one of them, or did he build that himself?

I actually have a 4 piece foam HO layout board fully decorated that was sold years ago, like back in the late 60's or early 70's.

He mentioned he saw the idea in a magazine - possibly CTT, not sure. The carved foam gets painted dark grey, then white overall. The dark highlights look great. Dave
