The fact that we can interject occasional personal greetings and best wishes to our fellow members here makes this forum all the better. As model train enthusiasts we assemble here to share in a common hobby interest that includes friendship, and a mutual expression of good will.

The fact that other people want a much more narrow and in some respects impersonal/technical approach to the hobby is fine for them, and I can see why their focus is the product (toy trains) rather than the people who share the interest in it. I see no reason why the two things cannot be combined with a little goodwill and tolerance.

Brian (PTC) has the birthday/anniversary list. He has been dealing with health issues for quite a while. At the same time his wife was sick and in the hospital for an extended period and passed away recently. With his own and his wife's health issues he wasn't able to keep up with it. That's why we haven't had happy birthday threads for a few months. I'm sure we will get back to celebrating all our members' birthdays and other life events very soon.

If you publish a list, please make sure the people listed wish to have their birthday posted. Sad that today's world has come to this, but just a suggestion. With consent, I am all for it.

Bill, joining the birthday list is voluntary. If a member doesn’t want to celebrate his birthday or just doesn’t want his birthday known he doesn’t volunteer the information.
