The plated finish is really exquisite -- which almost makes up for the fact that MTH "railsounds" aren't quite up to the level of depth and wow-factor as Lionel Legacy Railsounds. When multiple trains are running on a layout, the sounds tend to blend in with each other. But when we focus on an individual locomotive exclusively, the delta in sound quality between Lionel and MTH is still noticeable.
While I do tip my hat to Lionel for overall Railsounds quality from a technical point-of-view, MTH has much more realistic locomotive announcements and voice talent. Lionel's CrewTalk and TowerCom voice talent can sound a bit corny at times... like it's their first day on the job. The MTH Santa Fe announcements sound realistic to my ears... and seem typical of what MTH is providing in current-production locomotives.
At this point in the game, MTH’s plated offerings are far superior to any other products on the market to date — locomotives or rolling stock. And speaking of plated rolling stock, I believe the plated MTH cylindrical hoppers are due at dealers in a couple of weeks. Should be another eye-catching offering that won’t last long on dealer shelves.

Absolutely the best SF F3 set ever made. The paint and chrome accents are top notch.

Excellent video. I'm a F3 fan of these engines and will say MTH got it right on these.

Emil, Well done video. An impressive power train, good sounds, especially the station announcement - sounds realistic. Alfred

The MTH plated Santa Fe F units never leave the CIC Route. Best F units I own.

Beautiful set,Emile! Thank you for sharing.
I didn’t get these only because I had a few Santa Fe F7 and F3 sets already. But I did get the Santa Fe plated PA ABA set with the matching plated passenger cars. They are fabulous!

...I almost waited too long to buy the set. I found the locomotives and the ten car set through three different hobby shops. I did wait too long, at least for the ten car set. I've pieced together 9 of the 10 cars so far plus 2 uncataloged cars that go with this set. I've found them through every source imaginable.
